  We've thought about allowing users to tweak some predefined style attributes, and perhaps a background image (maybe).
  
  We're trying to dance the fine line between giving users the customizability they desire without turning into myspace.

    that makes sense.
    I like legibility.
    
    i've never been to myspace before and just went to click around over there and wow.
    
    its like mid 90s geocities over there.
    
    Some people just don't have an eye for color combinations and as soon as you let them change settings, things may go terribly terribly wrong. changing the images in styles like "Turbulence" and "Connected" though, that should be fairly painless no?

      "Should" is the operative word. It's been an interesting challenge getting the styles to render correctly across browser, especially considering that the desired content of each module is likely variable in size.
      
      We're definitely keeping an eye on what's popular with our users, and will likely generate a few different color combinations in our next round.
